Korean Grammar Structure

How to structure your sentences in Korean

Korean sentence structure goes Subject, Object, Verb. This means the verb comes at the end of the sentence.

This is different from how sentences are structured in English!

For example, take the sentence “Billy eats an apple” -

Billy
business man
eats
fork and knife
an apple.
apple

Here is the same sentence in Korean:

빌리는
business man
사과를
apple
먹어요.
fork and knife

One more example:

I
like
Korea.
저는
I
한국을
Korea
좋아해요.
like

warning sign

Unlike in English, verbs in Korean do not conjugate based on the person doing the action.

For example, in English we say:

I eat
Yunsoo eats

Where in Korean:

저는 먹어요
윤수는 먹어요

We will cover grammar particles such as 는 and 를, as well as verb conjugation, in a later lesson. See you in the next lesson!
